Four Part Series - online

The Collective Exhale

There are many common reasons why the majority of the population has stopped breathing well, and unfortunately, this leads to the development and worsening of symptoms that negatively impact one's well-being. Without an understanding of what a functional and optimal breath looks like and feels like, we are not equipped to catch dysfunctional habits as they arise and retrain ourselves back into better breathing. On top of that, with breath literacy you have access to protocols you can use throughout the day to increase energy or ground down into calm as you need and want. You have so much power awaiting when you unlock the innate possibility in your own breathing.

What is Breathwork? It is a deliberate practice of taking conscious control of your breath in various ways to regulate or activate. Your breath is intricately connected to your nervous system, and a healthy nervous system is a flexible nervous system. Your breath is the gateway to unlocking the power and potential inside of you. Breathwork can be practiced for both acute and chronic improvements to one's mood, perspective, mental health, emotional and stress resiliency, physical fitness and recovery.

Layout of lessons:

On day one of this four part series, you will receive a breath booklet full of information, inspiration, and detailed practices to support your ongoing learning and building of new habits. As well, after each session you will receive an audio recording of one or more breath focused practices to add to your library of resources.

Each session will have a special focus:

→ Lesson 1: The foundations of a functional and optimal breath

Benefits: Understand the relatable and common modern occurrences that have lead to suboptimal breathing, how to begin reversing these unhealthy habits, and why and how to get the most utility and vitality in each breath

→ Lesson 2: Why and how to practice breathing less (mild air hunger)

Benefits: Reduce systemic inflammation, increase sport endurance, improve cognition, reduce recovery time after stressor, and retrain unconscious breathing rate to be slower and healthier

→ Lesson 3: Breath protocols to upregulate and downregulate as desired

Benefits: Conscious control in emotional regulation, shifting energy based on task at hand, and exercising the nervous system to increase stress resilience.

→ Lesson 4: Why and how to practice breathing more (conscious connected breathing)

Benefits: Boost your energy and mood, increase stress resiliency, improve cognition, release stored stress in the body, explore your psyche, induce a psychedelic experience to release stuck energy, reframe limiting beliefs or stories of the past, and experience a deep and restorative state of calm afterwards

Past Participant:

“The breathwork sessions were something I looked forward to every week. I found the group work to be interesting and felt more connected as a collective where we each got to hear and share our experiences with each other. Marin's teaching and explanatory process was clear and easily digestible. I found her voice to be quite soothing and calm during the guided sessions. Throughout this practice, I realized that just like working out in the gym to strengthen your muscles and cardiovascular system, essentially exposing yourself to the very stresses that build strength in the body and mind, breathwork is the same; resiliency training by exposure to stress on the nervous system. I'm excited to continue this work on my own and in occasional group work to reap the physiological benefits in everyday life.”

The Collective Exhale is a fantastic introduction to breathwork for anyone curious about how to improve their breathing and its healing applications. Marin does a great job of explaining the "why" (the science) behind everything, which helps when putting different techniques into practice. I'd highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a gentle and exploratory introduction to breathwork.
