Journey to your Sovereign Self:
A Modern Hero’s Journey toward Wholeness and Wise Inner Authority
Most of us learned how to belong, long before we learned how to be ourselves.
We were taught how to adapt, how to fit in, and how to tell which parts of us are welcome or acceptable. We were not taught how to be in relationship with others without abandoning parts of who we are, or how to differentiate our selfhood without losing connection or belonging. Becoming who you’re meant to be is rarely about adding something new, it’s about recovering what had to go quiet to keep you safe.
Perhaps you have done the work, but something still feels unfinished. You can name the patterns, yet they keep replaying. You sense there’s a truer way of being, but you don’t want another identity to perform.
The truth is that we live in a fragmented and divisive world. And if you feel fragmented and divisive in your inner world, you don’t have much space or energy to participate in positive change in the external systems you are impacted by.
Journey to Your Sovereign Self is an online 3-month group program that transforms the way you show up in relationships—friendship, family dynamics, at work, with strangers, and most importantly, with yourself.
Guided by parts & shadow work, the hero’s journey, archetypal inquiry, breathwork, and somatic exploration, you will learn how to be with conflict, discomfort, and anxiety without collapsing, how to stay present when you feel yourself reacting, and how to move through disappointment, hurt, and grief without disappearing or attacking.
By connecting more fully to your Sovereign Self, you likely will experience more peace, confidence, and calm in your internal system so you can make a positive difference in this world.
This program is a good fit for you if you have:
Been quietly carrying questions that don’t fit into self-help language
Reached the end of how far self-regulation can take you
Heard and felt an echo of longing in your bones to slow down
Been seeking the guidance and space to explore what it means to become who you were born to be; separated enough to be oneself, connected enough to belong, and conscious enough to choose your stance toward life
Curious and ready?

Perhaps some of the concepts above are new to you. While we will move through this slowly in the program, ensuring your nervous system is setting the pace for you, it may be helpful to have a better understanding of some aspects to alleviate the uncertainty some of your “parts” might be grappling with. Perhaps you notice some parts of you leaning in, so curious and feeling seen in some of these words. While other parts of you may be feeling hesitant, unsure, and needing more ground to stand on before saying yes. More information may lead to overwhelm, so pause to check in with yourself. You can reach out to marinmccue@gmail with questions or to set up a call to get more information that is specific to what you are curious about. Or, continue reading and pause throughout to feel your breath and the ground beneath you.
What are some objectives or increased capacities that result from participating in this program?
A felt inner reference point of wise inner leadership. More agility, flexibility, and conscious participation in the systems within us and around us.
A stronger sense of safety in autonomy. Greater capacity to remain connected, notice reactivity as it arises and choose how to respond rather than collapse, appease, disappear, or attack.
Confidence and skill in navigating relationships and systems (i.e., safety in relationships). Boundaries feel cleaner and less defended, and disagreement no longer feels synonymous with rupture.
A deeper, more compassionate relationship with your inner parts, including "shadow aspects that were once exiled or managed, now met with curiosity rather than control.
Clearer discernment between adaptation and authenticity. An embodied sense of when they are acting from old survival patterns versus conscious choice.
Language and somatic cues to name their inner experience. So what once felt vague, overwhelming, or out of reach becomes accessible and understood.
What are “parts”?
“Parts” are naturally occurring aspects of our inner life that carry specific feelings, beliefs, impulses, and roles, formed in relationships and experiences we had throughout life. They are not symptoms, or distortions or fragments of a broken self, they are organizing processes that developed to help us live, belong, and survive. Think of them as “sub-personalities” that have their own perspective, intentions, and roles that make sense given what they have lived through. Some have inherent protective or adaptive strategies that were shaped to avoid, distract and numb the stored somatic wounding that is being carried from events in the past that were overwhelming, un-met and un-processed with a safe and attuned other.
How parts are organized, how they react, and what they currently believe is all in service of helping the whole system function to the best of its ability - even when on the surface there appears to be maladaptive behavior. They may arise as felt senses, emotional tones, images, impulses or postures. You may even notice the common experience of saying “a part of me wants x and another part of me wants y”. Change happens in relationship, not by fixing parts, but by meeting them with presence and resonance from the seat of your Sovereign Self. What was fiercely protected, defended against, or avoided can unfold in the loving hands of your Self in presence. In other words, parts respond to how they are met, they are relationally shaped, and they soften and re-organize when they feel seen, understood and are supported in a power-with rather than power-over relationship.
What is “shadow work”?
The “shadow” is hard to see because it is what we habitually turn away from and defend against inside. It is not a conquest, it is an initiation. The shadow is not an enemy to defeat, but a territory to enter with respect. Meeting and befriending the parts of you that block and push away from what’s been kept in the shadows, and slowly awakening as this is where your liberation and deep inner stability awaits. It is our fear of what lurks in the shadow that feeds into the false narrative; a narrative that serves the purpose of protecting what has been exiled into these depths.
This is an opportunity to be supported and guided as you meet aspects of your psyche that you habitually vilify, avoid, or have lost touch with. Because, what we turn away from becomes the epicenter of how our whole system is organized. Who is leading your internal system? What would be possible if you had more understanding and control in how you show up in your relationships with yourself and others?
